Recent Projects

Matheson Mining Consultants, Inc. (MMC) was recently hired by a seismic exploration company to monitor vibrations at irrigation water wells and to perform testing at these wells for insoluble and soluble chemicals.

Before seismic exploration begins, existing water wells must be tested for chemicals such as benzene and toluene.  Water samples are sent overnight to a laboratory that specializes in water sample testing.  These tests will then be used to set a baseline for pre-existing concentrations of chemicals.  Baseline concentrations are a necessary requirement to provide documentation against a liability lawsuit that may arise if the well owner believes damage has occurred to the irrigation well.

During seismic exploration whether shot hole or vibroseis, the irrigation wells are continuously monitored using vibration monitoring seismographs to provide accurate data on the response of the ground and the well due to vibrations produced by explosives in the ground or from the vibroseis trucks.  This data is also used as documentation if damage complaints are filed against the seismic exploration company.

Farmers rely on high volume irrigation pumps to supply water to their crops throughout the year.
